A NOBLE HOUSE ..............

You do not get more central than this – situated on the main cathedral square - this is the only boutique hotel in the old historic quarter of the lovely city of Almeria. An area of small alleyways full of interesting shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs ( Friday and Saturday nights are very busy when the Spanish go out to party) Almeria makes an excellent destination for a city break using the Low Cost/No frills airlines. There are also magnificent beaches not too far away and it has a wonderful year-round climate. The influence of tourists in the city itself is small and therefore it has a very authentic Spanish feel.

The Cathedral square is an architectural joy and is fronted by the Archbishop’s Palace. The Hotel building is a nobleman’s house dating from the 1850s. Recently opened (mid 2006), it is a fabulous conversion, successfully mixing the old with the new. The reception hall has grand 19th century arches and the old restored staircase - there is a tantalizing glimpse of a modern chrome staircase beyond, giving a hint of what lies within.

White, cream, black and grey are the order of the day giving a contemporary feel to the Hotel. These colours stand happily alongside the original black and white 19th century tiles. The cafeteria and salon are on the ground floor next to the reception area and are spacious and luminous.

Taking the lift or the stairs to the ample roof terrace you will discover an inviting outdoor Jacuzzi, decking and sun loungers. The views over the cathedral square with its palm trees and the roof tops of the antique quarter of the City are magnificent. They are especially wonderful at night under a balmy starlit sky.

The 20 bedrooms are beautifully furnished and equipped. There are 6 Junior Suites which have varying views of the Cathedral, ancient City walls and the Square. Two Superior Doubles have their own terraces and the rest of the rooms (mostly interior and therefore quieter, but with no views) are Standard Doubles. All are contemporary in feel and design and come with hi-tech equipment. Plasma satellite TV, Wi-Fi access and even a computer!!! Heating, air-con, safe, hairdryers, bathrobes and slippers are supplied. There is a free mini-bar on each floor of the Hotel for clients’ use.

Breakfasts and light lunches are served in the ground floor restaurant which takes on a different atmosphere at night when romantic, candle-lit dinners are on offer. The cuisine is modern Spanish and the restaurant is already gaining a reputation as one of the finer “eateries” in the city.

An ideal Hotel for those who want a beautiful Hotel in a typically Spanish city. An excellent citybreak destination and a great place to party on a Friday and Saturday (although remember, nothing gets going till midnight!!!!) This is the “Real Spain”.
