PORT SIDE ..............

If you are looking for creature comforts - this is the only five star boutique hotel in the port area of Alicante. Location is superb, close to shops, restaurants, the beach and the attractive and rejuvenated port complex of the city. It’s a boom city with a great nightlife especially at the weekends. This is a gem of a Hotel in a beautifully converted building. The Hospes Hotel chain has an eye for fabulous buildings and works with some of Spain’s best known architects and interior designers. We feature their Hotels in Seville, Granada and Valencia. The Amerigo opened three years ago to much acclaim and as lived up to all expectations.

The Hotel is divided into two interconnecting parts separated by a small alley. It is grand and very striking. Reception s to the right and the brightness and luminosity is enhanced by the high, arched windows overlooking the street and the alley. All is white and grey and the friendly, smiling reception staffs, dressed in “trendy” black are welcoming and helpful. Service is paramount in this Hotel. There is an attractive open plan salon area on the ground floor and a computer with internet access free of charge for Hotel client’s use.

Moving up a floor, there is another salon/library with Wi-Fi. This floor also houses the breakfast room, again open plan and luminous. What a breakfast it is too – buffet style, but laid out with great attention to detail – a “serious” Chef has hand a hand in the presentation. Free newspapers are also on hand.

The roof terrace is stunning and has a waiter service/ snack bar in the warmer months. There are sun-loungers for taking the sun. Views are wonderful and the castle on a hill to the east is wonderfully lit-up at night. There is a Jacuzzi and the Hospes Spa “Bodyna” is also to be found here. An extensive range of massages, manicure, pedicure, and beauty treatments are available by appointment.

The 80 bedrooms (1 Suite, 3 Junior Suites and the rest Deluxe Doubles, Dreamer's Doubles/Twins) continue the contemporary feel with clean lines - black, brown, white and silver abound, and the bathrooms are lovely. The Hospes chain has probably the best range of toiletries I have seen – amazingly presented tubes standing in a Perspex presentation package. Try the cinnamon and vanilla shower gel, or the citrus scented body milk!!! Feel like soaking in the bath all day! The rooms have everything you would expect from a five star Hotel – plasma satellite TVs, DVD’s (films available for free from reception), cable internet connection, heating, air-con, safe and a very “originally stocked” mini-bar – “high energy” and “chill out” drinks! There is a pillow menu, turn-down service, and fluffy gowns and hair dryers are all provided.

After that exotic breakfast, return to the Hotel and on the left of the alleyway you will find the Hotel’s “funky” tapas bar. Cold and Hot tapas are served throughout the day in this attractive and modern steel, chrome and black bar. Further along the alleyway is the Hotel restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. It has a “serious” reputation. I had pan-fried breast of duck and it was cooked to perfection. The accompanying fig and wine sauce was quite historic! An excellent wine list too.

An ideal Hotel for those who want a great city Hotel full of style and very chic. Brilliant location for all the delights that this fantastic beach-side city has to offer. Low cost/ No Frills airlines fly from many airports into Alicante.
