Down a small alleyway on the northern edge of the Jewish quarter in Seville you will discover the Casa del Maestro. Just a ten minute walk from all the sites of the city – the Cathedral, the Alcazaba (Royal Palace) and a further ten to the Plaza de Espana and the Maria Luisa Park. An unassuming front doorway leads you to the covered patio courtyard of this small old palace. This is now a welcoming seating area and serves as the reception. I was greeted by the lovely Patricia, Director of the Hotel. It is a very small and personal Hotel – used by many British tourists as a budget option in Seville. Patricia’s warm personality is infectious and you will leave as a friend, rather than a client. She has many repeat clients.

Off the patio is a small breakfast room with an Internet corner for the use of guests. This in turn leads on to a small bar/cafeteria overlooking the alleyway .

The eleven bedrooms are arranged around the patio courtyard on the first and second floors. There are seven Superior Doubles and four Standard Doubles. They are simply, but tastefully furnished and beautifully clean. Many of the rooms are on the smaller side. Good quality bed linens and towels. All have small pretty bathrooms including bathrobes and slippers. Some have four poster beds. They all have heating and air-conditioning, very necessary for the extreme heat of a Sevillean summer.

The “coup de grace” is the lovely roof terrace where breakfast is served when weather permits. There are a couple of teak sun loungers for those who wish to take the sun when an overdose of sightseeing kicks in.

An ideal Hotel for those who want a simpler Hotel in this extraordinary city. Although there is little in the way of facilities in the Hotel, Seville itself will keep you occupied. A little gem!
