If you are looking for a more traditional Hotel and a truly Spanish experience, then look no further than this working “finca” (farmhouse),managed by the Vicens family for scores of years (Juan Vicens is the “hands on” Director). Terraces of olive groves lead you up to this magnificently situated Hotel perched on the side of the gently sloping foothills of the Sierra de Traumuntana – one of the most beautiful areas of the island. The emphasis is very much on nature and outdoor pursuits – walkers will be in their element. Trails abound all over the local countryside. Cyclists too, will not want for cycling routes with special off-road tracks signposted between local villages. Juan and Max (the Manager) will also arrange such diverse activities as ballooning or yacht rental. Nothing is too much trouble. Do not expect 5 star plush service – it is not that kind of place - but you will get service with a smile on a family scale. Ask and “you shall receive”!!!

The 17th Century farmhouse has been converted in a very sympathetic way, maintaining the old Mallorquin style whilst integrating modern day comforts. The terraces are all around and lead up to the swimming pool with wonderful views over the valley below. There are many stone steps between the terraces making the property a difficult one for those with walking difficulties. As you laze by the pool you will hear the gentle sound of sheep’s bells in the distance – turn off that mobile phone and enjoy the silence!

The 12 bedrooms are dotted about the farmhouse. 6 en-suite doubles, 3 superior doubles with jacuzzi and terrace, and 3 large suites with jacuzzi and terrace, are all equipped with satellite TV, Wi-Fi, heating, air-conditioning, minibar, hairdryer and bathrobes. They are decorated in traditional style and several contain antique Mallorquin beds (the mattresses are NOT antique of course !!!)

Whenever possible, weather permitting, breakfast and dinner are served on the wonderful terrace in front of the finca with those lovely views. There is an interior dining room in the farmhouse for those days when the weather does not permit outdoor dining. This terrace comes into its own at night when the Vicens family light it up with candles and torches – romance at its best on a balmy summers night! You will get the freshest Mallorquin cuisine with as many ingredients as possible being produced by the Finca.

Definitely a back to nature experience (with modern day creature comforts in your room} but if you suddenly feel you need pampering, the sister Hotel, Binibona Parc Natural, owned by the same family in nearby Binibona hamlet, has a heated pool, sauna, gymnasium and all weather tennis court that you may use on request. Once Finca Albellons works its magic though, I bet you won’t look any further.
