CIDER WITH ROSA ..............
Orient is, without doubt, one of the most picturesque villages on the island. Beautifully restored honey-coloured stone houses line the hillside and the quaint cobbled streets and alleyways all lead upwards to the church. Next to the church there is an enticing, gated patio courtyard where a Mallorquin lady is watering the plants. This is Rosa the mother of the family who own and run Finca Son Palou. Marc, her son, is the Director. This pretty patio leads you into the most wonderful find. A converted apple farm (dating from the 14th century) restored with such care and attention to detail. A tremendous amount of love has been lavished (and continues to be lavished) on this unique Hotel. Spotlessly clean gleaming terracotta floors and loads of character. The old pressing room contains a billiard table for your use. Every nook and cranny is used to effect; an upstairs salon has a small library.
There are extensive gardens, and I mean extensive! The finca lies on a plot of 150 hectares. There are lawns and many small terraces, several shaded by larger trees from which to enjoy glorious views of the surrounding countryside and the lush green valley below. Apple trees abound. A walkers paradise the Hotel has its own itinerary of walks that you can do by yourself or, for the less adventurous, a guide can be arranged. On a terrace below the Hotel there is a strategically placed swimming pool from which you can take in those views from the sun-lounger (glass of cider in hand, of course!). A truly peaceful location.
The twelve bedrooms are dotted about in all corners of the buildings and gardens. Several have their own terraces with teak sun-loungers. Neutral tones mix sympathetically with the tiled floors and beamed ceilings. All are equipped to a very high standard, and the suite is ideally suited for a honeymoon hideaway.
Breakfasts are served in the main dining room or on a small terrace overlooking the patio courtyard when weather permits. This main dining room is the most stunning room for dinner with a small, ever changing menu serving Mediterranean cuisine.
An ideal Hotel for those who want a small intimate Hotel, set in glorious surroundings. Very stylish.
