WHERE A RURAL IDYLL MEETS THE MED ..............

I doubt whether there is a more stunning or dramatic sea view in the Med than that which meets the eye on arrival at this wonderful little Hotel. Perched on a cliff top with sweeping views of the sea and the picturesque village of Deia, it is no wonder that the area has become a magnet for artists and poets. Who could fail to be inspired by such beauty? A former 17th Century residence of Archduke Luis Salvador of Austria, the beautiful stone built building has been lovingly restored and reformed to create a spectacular haven. The pool, terraces and several rooms all offer breathtaking views

Situated just off the spectacular cliff top drive from Deia to Valldemossa, the estate itself, rivals the panorama with its pretty watch tower, stone walls and flowered gardens – all this against a back-drop of olive groves on the lower slopes of the dramatic Tramuntana Mountains. It is just a kilometre into the village and walkers are spoilt for choice with many routes and trails in the area.

The reception is entered from the seaward side of the Hotel and on entering you are immediately struck by the “character” of the building – wonderful beamed and curved ceilings, terracotta floors and white-washed walls all add to the charm. A comfortable salon (with an inviting open-hearthed fire in the cooler months) lies to your right and directly in front of you is the intimate restaurant. The salon is a wi-fi “hot spot” where you can connect to your laptop. Service is personal and Miguel Bonet, the Head of Reception and his team are helpful and “on hand” – they have the “personal touch” exactly right, and are never over intrusive. You will leave as a friend.

The swimming pool is perched on the cliff top in front of the Hotel and is a beautiful place to take the sun and those views. The pool area needs no more words – you just have to see it!

The 8 bedrooms, unusually all have a small salon. There is one single room (with a double bed), a double or twin room, Junior Suite and three fabulous Suites - The Garden Suite (mountain views), The Tower Suite (on two floors in the watch tower with a 20 square metre terrace and sea views) and The Sea View Suite (with a 40 metre terrace!!! with sea and mountain views). They are warm and inviting, and have all the amenities you would expect of this category of hotel – internet connection, heating, air-con, tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV, DVDs, safe and mini-bar. This is a very romantic place and not surprisingly, the suites are frequented by many honeymooners. Room service is available and also massages, but these need to be booked in advance. Bathrooms are delightful with good toiletries, bathrobes and hairdryers as standard.

Breakfasts are served at your leisure in the main dining room (the ancient olive press is a lovely feature in this room) during the cooler months but whenever possible you can eat “alfresco” on he terrace with the sea views. Dinner by candlelight outside under the stars is a magical experience. and the mix of Mediterranean and Mallorquin cuisine is a delight. The Hotel hosts barbecue evenings in the warm summer months on their special “barbecue terrace”. Light lunches are also available.


An ideal Hotel for those who want a stunning country Hotel on an intimate scale. Its location is truly amazing – ideal for walkers, honeymooners and anyone who has a yearning to paint!
