OLD TOWN, URBAN CHIC ..............

If you are looking for a “funky” place to stay with an excellent reputation then this “hip” hotel is for you. Situated in the gothic quarter of Palma surrounded by trendy bars and restaurants the location is perfect with designer shops just up the road. Approached through a set of old doors, you would never know that you are about to enter a high-tech boutique hotel, but upon entering it is immediately apparent that you are in a trendy, fashionable place where contemporary design and art play an important role. The attractive courtyard beckons you forward. Service is paramount and helpful staff will attend to you at reception. They are a young and cosmopolitan team and know Palma and the island well.

The patio courtyard is striking in its appearance, modernist in its furnishings. It is an oasis of calm in this bustling area and comes alive at night when candles are lit and music plays – a romantic place for a cocktail before venturing out to dinner or retiring after you have eaten.

An inviting roof top terrace with fabulous views over the old town and cathedral to the sea and port is a wonderful place to sunbathe or cool off in the small plunge pool. Eye-catchingly chic is the word that springs to mind when one is confronted by the wooden decking and dark tones complemented by the cream-coloured sun loungers. There is also a sauna.

The 41 bedrooms, whilst not the largest (obviously confined by the size of the original building) continue along the high-tech/minimalist theme. There are Singles (with queen size beds!!), Doubles, Superior Doubles, Doubles with terraces, Junior Suites and a Suite. Striking works of art (many of them nudes) give a rather “erotic” feel to the bedrooms. Chrome and creams are the order of the day with the odd splash of colour thrown in for impact. The Suite and Junior Suites are wonderfully “sexy” (and larger of course) and would be ideal for a romantic weekend break or even a honeymoon. The Suite benefits from its own roof terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi. All bedrooms are equipped with satellite TV, DVD, heating, air-con, mini-bar, safe, bathrobes, slippers and hairdryers. There is internet access throughout the Hotel by broadband cable or Wi-Fi. Several of the rooms have wood beamed ceilings and all rooms have a novel trademark ”Tres” gliding table that slides up and down the bed.

Breakfasts are served at your leisure in the small dining room or in the patio in the warmer months. There is a bistro-style snack menu during the day with room service available – do not forget the good range of cocktails to accompany!! There is no dinner menu however, as the Hotel is surrounded by many of Palma’s excellent restaurants serving both Mallorquin and international cuisine. You are next door to one of the city’s most fabulously eccentric flower and fruit-filled bars: Abaco – do not miss it – your jaw will drop with amazement on entering!!

An ideal Hotel for those who want to be in the centre of all the action in this really up and coming city. Great shopping and night-life surround you – a very chic city-break Hotel for romance and partying.

Hotel Tres was in Conde Nast Travellers “Hot List” for 2005 and has featured in numerous glossy magazines such as Vogue and Tatler and newspapers such as The New York Times.
