BELLE EPOQUE..............

Elegant, stylish and chic are the words that spring to mind with Villa Soro. This beautiful old villa, situated on the tree lined Avenida de Ategorrieta, has been lovingly restored and is given pride of place in the gardens of French landscaper, Ducasse which he designed in the late 19th Century. What’s more – it is situated just 400 metres from the three star Michelin restaurant Arzak, with another 3 star and a 2 star nearby – a haven amid the these temples of culinary excellence. San Sebastian is renowned for its food and deserves its status as the “eating” capital of Spain. Be warned though, you will need to reserve several weeks in advance at some of these restaurants in order to get a reservation. The Hotel is a new arrival on the scene and already has a place on Conde Nast Traveller’s “ Hotels “Hot List” for 2006. A rare achievement for such a young Hotel. This is in no small way due to the affability and enthusiasm of the youthful, multi-lingual staff who take great pride in their Hotel.

The Hotel will gladly arrange transfers from the three nearest airports: San Sebastian, Bilbao and Biarritz (in France).

The large gardens are peaceful and it is hard to believe that you are in the exciting and chic city that is San Sebastian. The city centre is an 800m walk with the lovely Zurriola Beach slightly nearer. Its candy-striped parasols and the surrounding architecture are evocative of the “Belle Epoque” era.

The 25 bedrooms (15 of which are Deluxe romos in the main villa, with the other ten Standard romos in the “coach” house) are both elegant and classic in design, antique furnishings abound and chintz materials give them this feel. They are light and airy. All are en-suite with good bathrooms and come equipped with heating and air-con, safes, minibars, satellite TV, internet connection, hairdryers and bathrobes. Paintings by local artists adorn the walls.

Breakfasts are served at your leisure in your room or in the former “winter garden” of the villa and a small room service menu is available which presents the best of typical San Sebastian cuisine. There are comfortable salons and a small bar which all continue the theme of “elegance”.

An ideal Hotel for those who want elegance in a beautiful building set amongst landscaped gardens with a beach nearby. If you are a serious “foodie” this is the place to stay although visiting all the Michelin Star restaurants (15 at the last count!!) would burn quite a big hole in your pocket!

The Hotel has already been featured in numerous glossy magazines such as Elle and GQ. Definitely an “in” place.
